Ibiza and Formentera transport

The various means of transport on Ibiza and Formentera

Ibiza transportation

Ibiza by bus

Ibiza has excellent bus connections.

You can take a bus from the airport to our house in Cala Llonga and vice versa.

Only 500 meters from our house is a bus stop that takes you to Ibiza Town and Santa Eulalia. From these locations, there are links to take you to all corners of the island. There is even a party bus to the clubs.

Renting a car or scooter

There are several companies to rent a car at the airport. We have good experience with Motoluis.
They have a clear insurance policy and the car is also delivered directly on the airport parking.  So you don’t have to wait in the long line the well known car rental offices.

Formentera transportation

Several companies sail several times a day from Ibiza to La Savina port Formentera and back: include Balearia, Trasmapi, Aquabus, Mediterranea Pitiusa and Santa Eulalia Ferry.

There are several boarding places near Casa Zita, including the pier in Cala Llonga or the port of Ibiza (La Marina).

The boat to Formentera

From Cala Llonga with Santa Eulalia Ferry

The advantage is that you can walk from Casa Zita to the pier in Cala Llonga in 10 minutes, but the number of boats is limited. You can buy the tickets on the spot or reserve online in advance. The price is 35 euros per adult and 18 euros for the kids for the return trip.

During the summer months you have both a direct boat that leaves at 9.45 am and a boat with a stopover in Santa Eulalia that leaves at 10 am. With the direct transfer you are on the road for about an hour, with a stopover it is approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes by boat. The last boat from Formentera is at 6.30 pm and goes straight back to Cala Llonga.

From the port of Ibiza town with the Mediterranea Pitiusa or the Aquabus

By car it takes about about 25 minutes drive from Casa Zita to the port of Ibiza. Tip: park the car for free on the large parking next to the Ikea (this is also an ideal parking space when visiting Ibiza town).

With the Fast Ferry Mediterranea Pitiusa

With the Fast Ferry it is only half an hour sailing from Ibiza to Formentera and there are a lot of boats a day from early in the morning until late in the evening. The first boat leaves at 7 a.m. Travel times do vary per season, so be sure to check the website. The price is about 42 euros per adult and 22 euros for the kids for the return trip.

Aquabus

If you want to sail cheaper from the port of Ibiza with flexible hours from morning to night, you can also take the Aquabus. This is a smaller and less luxurious boat where you are on the road for about an hour, but you only pay 19.95 euros per person.

Which means of transport do you choose on Formentera?

You can explore the island by bicycle, scooter or car, but you can also take the bus.

Our preference is for an electric bike. That way you can comfortably explore the island and enjoy all the beauty around you.

If you want to go all the way to Faro de La Mola in the East of Formentera, it is advisable to take a scooter, especially in the warm summer months. 🙂

You can book an electric bicycle or scooter from 20 euros.

If you rather prefer to not drive by yourself, you can rely on Autocares Paya offering different bus lines.  They can take you to the most beautiful places on the island:

  • Ruta Amarilla: Platja Illetes
  • Ruta Azul: Platja Illetes + Platja Es Pujols
  • Ruta Verde: Platja Illetes + Platja Es Pujols + Mirador + Faro
